Natural Selection 2 Alpha Release date announced

It's coming: July 26th 2010

This game is going to be epic (like the first one) and there will be an M8D server as soon as possible. No online PC game has recreated the atmosphere, gameplay, teamwork and fun of NS1, if you never played it you really missed out.

There aren't enough independent game developers on the PC working on a game of this size and scope and the more of us support them, the healthier PC Gaming in general will be. People are already making NS2 maps and mods, updates will come thick and fast and the guys making it are more in touch with the community than pretty much any other developer. Put it this way: NS2 will be the exact opposite of BF:BC2.

The engine test was fine on my PC but this is still an alpha, you won't get the full experience from it as a lot of important stuff is missing. For example the aliens have something called "Dynamic infestation": wherever they make a base, a mass of alien growths start spreading out and covering the map, it's a bit like how the Zerg in Starcraft can only build on their own "soil". That's not in the Alpha. Also there are the two main offensive alien classes, the "Fade" and the "Onos" missing. At this point if you play it's all about testing. Expect it to really suck to start with but don't be put off, if you play now you're getting in at the start of something great.

The alpha is, well an alpha: very rough, about 80% complete (compared to to a beta which should be 99% complete) but looking good so far. Needs a ton of polish to get to Beta but Unknown Worlds are working their asses off to get it there, expect updates to come every week.
