Reasons not to play BC2

Tazz instantly took a dislike to BC2 and came up with a list like this where each point was "I'm a noob who doesn't get this game yet".

Here's my take having played for over 8 billion years and reached rank 234442:


1) Team play is not possible

This is a team game where teamplay is vital. Teamplay requires team mates to get together and co-ordinate their actions. This game has NO teamplay for the following reasons:

- There's no friends list
- There's no in game VOIP
- There's no chat in game

They added a "friends list", it has never worked unless you are on Steam and can co-ordinate so you are both in the lobby at the same time, otherwise you can't add friends. The friends list is nothing more than a way to connect to the server's that your friends are on. The only way to be able to add a friend is to have a way to communicate with them outside the game already so what is the point? Do you have more than than 8 friends? Tough shit you can't connect to the 9th on your list or any others lower down because if you have to scroll down the list to see the friend, then you can't connect to their game. You also can't search for the name of the server they are on because it only shows the first few characters from the server name. Got a friend on your list that you need to chat to? Hope you've got their phone number because otherwise it isn't happening. Got more than 20 friends? Sorry no, just forget it you are limited to 20.

Without third party software like Steam and Teamspeak the game is nothing.

There is meant to be Voip (like every Valve game has had for the past 10+ years) but I've never heard it used. It is broken, people have to leave the game, install Teamspeak/ventrilo/Mumble etc, connect and then play knowing that only a small number of people on a server at any given time might be connected.

Chat in game is pointless. You cannot see chat messages when you are dead and there's no way to tell if anyone not in your squad is dead. So you can sit and type all night long and not know if the person you are talking to read your message. If they have read it then they might as well ignore it because in the time it take to type "There's a guy behind you" you are both dead.

3) No Mod support

You will never see a new map or an interesting new gameplay mode in this game. Forget it.

2) No actual support

The last patch broke one of the most fundamental parts of the gameplay: the knife. This was 5-6 weeks ago. The Beta started how long ago? The game is still in Beta, there is so much wrong with it still and there's no sign that any of it will ever be fixed.

5) Hit Reg

This is a game where the point is to aim a gun at another player, press "fire" and hit them. That's the main thing about the game, that's all the game is: See a bad guy on the screen -> point your gun at him -> shoot -> he gets hit and is either injured or killed. This part of the game (the only part that actually matters) doesn't work. It is broken, the game is fundamentally pointless.
